Understanding Private Jet Costs

Private charter pricing isn't complicated, but it isn't always explained clearly either. Below is a genuine, industry-wide guide to how hourly rates work, by aircraft category, and what typically gets added on top — so you can go into a conversation with us already understanding the shape of the number. These are typical market ranges across the charter industry, not a fleet EJS Air owns — the specific aircraft, availability and final price for your trip comes from our operator network and is always confirmed personally, not calculated automatically.

What's in the Hourly Rate, and What's Added

Typically included in the hourly rate

  • Aircraft and maintenance
  • Flight crew, training and salaries
  • Fuel and standard fuel surcharge
  • Insurance
  • Standard catering and refreshments

Typically added to a quote

  • Government taxes and fees — these vary by jurisdiction and route and are confirmed when you enquire
  • Positioning or ferry flights, where the aircraft isn't already at your departure point
  • Crew overnight costs on multi-day trips (roughly £150–£450 per night)
  • Landing and ramp fees (roughly £110–£1,470 depending on airport)
  • De-icing, where applicable
  • Catering upgrades beyond standard, and ground transportation if requested

What Moves the Price

  • Billable flight time — wheels-up to wheels-down, plus a standard short ground allowance
  • Aircraft category and the specific type within it
  • Aircraft age — newer aircraft can carry a premium per flight hour
  • Repositioning flights needed to reach your departure point
  • Government taxes and fees, which vary significantly by jurisdiction and route
  • How intensively an aircraft is utilised — busier aircraft often have lower effective hourly costs

Empty leg flights — where an aircraft is already repositioning — can sometimes be available at a significant reduction on standard rates. Ask us about current availability when you enquire.

Figures are indicative industry benchmark data, compiled September 2026, intended to give a general sense of how private charter pricing works. They are not live prices and do not represent a quote. Currency conversions use an approximate reference rate and are not a live feed. Your actual quote will always be confirmed with you personally before you commit to anything.
